Brrrr. It’s cold outside!

Here are some items we recommend for keeping you and your pets warm in your RV during the winter months.

Dog Coats and Sweaters: There are so many of these to choose from. Be sure to measure your dog’s neck and chest to be sure of an accurate fit. The item should be snug enough to not fall off or get caught, but not too tight.

The Gooby Fleece Pull-Over Vest comes in multiple sizes from extra small to extra large, as well as multiple colors.

 

Portable Heaters:  Portable heaters come in very handy whether connected to shore power or while boondocking (dry camping/no hookups). Keep in mind the safety issues of using a portable heater with pets. Never leave them unattended together in your rig. Many portable heaters have auto-shutoff features, but you never want to take any chances of your rig catching fire.

We have two Portable Ceramic Heaters. They have adjustable thermostats, an auto-shutoff feature if it starts to overheat, and auto-shutoff if it tips over. We love the portability of these.

We also have an Infrared Portable Heater if the weather gets really cold. It too has tip-over and overheating protection and will shut off automatically.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

What we don’t have yet, but many of our RVing friends with pets have, is a Portable Propane Heater. These are meant to use the small, green propane tanks or can be connected to a larger propane tank with a long hose. With these, though, you need to keep a window or two cracked while they are running, just like with your RV’s propane stove. You don’t need to create an unsafe situation by running propane in an enclosed RV.

These heaters have great safety features like auto shut-off if tipped over, if the pilot light goes out, or if it detects low oxygen levels. For added safety, please be sure you do not sleep with one of these heaters on and keep your CO2 detectors updated and working.

 

Heated Pet Beds:  Pet beds with heaters included are perfect for pets, especially those senior pets with body aches. Our senior cats loved their heated beds over any other place in our RV!
